Understanding The Symptom of Depression
Saturday, March 25th, 2006    Subscribe To Our FeedIf you think you’re suffering from depression or you know someone suffering from depression then you’ll need to make sure that they have a depression problem and not just going through bad breakup with their girlfriend or boyfriend.
The symptoms of depression are fairly straight forward but the type of depression a person has is often hard to diagnose. Below are few things you can look for to tell if a person is suffering from depression. The symptoms to look out for are:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Low self esteem and self confidence
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Feeling Lonely and sad
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Insomnia or difficulty sleeping
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Disinterest in sex or avoiding sex
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â No motivation or total apathy
Other more serious symptoms for depression are:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Eating more often or over eating
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Starting to drink and binge drinking
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Being violent or violent acts (male)
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Big mood swings and anger problems
Some people who cannot cope with depression can end up as drub or alcohol abusers and can sometimes lead to suicide. So if you understand these symptoms then look out for your friends if you think they are suffering from depression. If they are the best think you can do is just be there for them and try to be a friend and take them out. Don’t let them be by themselves too often.
A person who suffers from depression will not want to understand the symptoms and will often not want to see therapists. If you tell a therapist about the symptoms your friend is going through then it could help because they might have a few suggestions on what you can do to help your friend.
So if you’ve picked on the symptoms of depression and you know someone who is having it and won’t seek help do them a favor and seek help for them and try to understand their situation and be a good friend.
